The MUNICIPALITY OF PARGA belongs to the Regional Unit of Preveza in the Region of Epirus. It is the heart of tourism in Epirus due to its prominent position as a tourist destination in Greece with global appeal. It uniquely combines historical and mythological elements with natural landscapes of indelible beauty, making it a reference and point of interest for thousands of visitors throughout the year. In our Municipality, one can encounter several local communities with unique and long-standing history and diverse natural beauties. It is administratively divided into 2 Municipal Units, the Municipal Unit of Fanari and the Municipal Unit of Parga. The main seat of the Municipality is in Kanallaki, with the mythical Acheron River, the archaeological site of the Necromanteion of Acheron, and many wonderful beaches with turquoise waters, such as the repeatedly awarded Blue Flag beach of Loutsa, Bay of Odysseus, beaches of Scala and Alonaki. The historical seat of the Municipality is the beautiful town of Parga. Parga is considered the “Diamond of Epirus” and is the main pillar of the economic and tourist development of the Municipality. The picturesque alleys in the market, the colorful houses, the unique islet of Panagia, the Venetian Castle of Parga and the impressive beaches of Kryoneri, Valtos, Sarakiniko, Lichnos and Agios Giannakis with their crystal-clear waters create a unique and beautiful photographic scene that impresses every visitor.
Significant steps have been taken in the PARGA MUNICIPALITY in the field of recycling, including the construction of a Green Point that will operate complementarily to the source separation systems, the expansion of the network of blue recycling bins, collaboration with the recycling company for clothing, footwear, and cooking oils East West Greece, recycling of electrical appliances, bulbs, and ink cartridges, collaboration with ANAKEM for the management of AEKK and the installation of a new generation GPS weighing system for waste collection trucks to calculate the optimal route. The organization of educational activities “As I Grow, I Will Recycle” for the rational management of waste was carried out with the aim of informing, raising awareness, and educating the local community, as they play a leading role in adopting an ecological culture.
