The GROUP FOR RESEARCH ON BUILDING ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (GRBES), under the guidance of Professor Margarita-Niki Asimakopoulou, operates within the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), as part of the Meteorology and Environmental Physics Division. Its research activities focus on the Physics of the Built Environment and Energy, producing high-level research and technological advancements.
The group offers advanced postgraduate and doctoral programs, publishes scientific papers and books, and collaborates with universities,
government agencies, and industry partners in national and international research projects.
Its research covers a broad range of topics, including smart materials and nanomaterials, building energy performance, solar systems, energyefficient technologies, indoor environmental quality, information technology applications in buildings, energy management, environmental condition monitoring, smart systems, energy and environmental assessment, and life cycle analysis.

Equipped with state-of-the-art research infrastructure and an experienced scientific team, the GROUP FOR RESEARCH ON BUILDING ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES is actively engaged in experimental and
applied research, maintaining a strong scientific presence in the academic and research community.
