The FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY – HELLAS (FORTH), established in 1983, is the largest research center in Greece. Renowned globally for its state-of-the-art facilities, highly skilled personnel, and exceptional research output, it is recognized as a leading institution worldwide.

In recent years, FORTH has consistently ranked as the top research center in Greece in comparative evaluations conducted by international committees. Today, it encompasses 10 Research Institutes and 3 Special Units, located across 8 cities in Greece, and focuses on conducting cutting- edge research in strategic areas of significant scientific, social, and economic impact, delivering high added value.

For nearly a decade, FORTH has been actively engaged in environmental robotics research, focusing on the recovery and sorting of recyclable materials. In this domain, it collaborates with international companies, research institutions, and universities, fostering technological innovation and advancement.
