Since 2004, AFIS has been at the forefront of promoting environmental awareness and action, aiming to reduce the country’s environmental footprint. As the sole national management system for portable batteries up to 5 kilograms, we ensure their safe collection, processing, and recycling. Our efforts are supported by a network of over 75,000 collection points located in schools, public spaces, stores, government offices, military camps, and businesses across the country.

At the same time, we remain active by investing in partnerships, campaigns, and initiatives that dynamically communicate and promote the importance of recycling. These efforts have taken shape through initiatives like the “School Reward” program, now running for the fourth consecutive year. This year, in addition to primary schools, kindergartens and middle schools also have the opportunity to participate. Through this program, we educate and raise awareness among younger generations in an engaging way, giving them the chance to become key players in environmental protection.

Meanwhile, our partnerships remain a cornerstone of this mission, driving our message forward with impactful initiatives. Specifically, in collaboration with AB Vassilopoulos stores, we reward environmental consciousness by offering weekly vouchers worth €6 to those who recycle batteries. At the same time, through the REACT program, instead of vouchers, we made Athens greener by planting 667 trees for every full bin collected at Kotsovolos stores. Finally, as sponsors of Basketaki AMEA, we support inclusion and highlight that every small action can have a significant social and environmental impact.
