KIFISSIA is one of the most historic and recognizable municipalities of Attica, renowned for its strong garden-city identity, high quality of life, and dynamic economic activity. Located at the northern edge of the Athens metropolitan area, it is a mature and continuously developing urban municipality that seamlessly combines natural beauty with modern development.

According to the 2021 Census conducted by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), KIFISSIA has a population of 72,878 residents, reflecting a modest increase compared to 2011.

The municipality covers an area of approximately 35.5 kmÇ and lies about 15 km northeast of central Athens. Its territory stretches from the ravines of the Kifisos River to the peaks of Mount Penteli and the Kokkinara ridge.

The city is built at an average elevation of 280–290 meters and is surrounded by pine forests and lush vegetation, benefiting from a mild microclimate. These natural features have historically earned Kifissia the nickname “summer capital” of Athens, as it offered a cooler and greener alternative to the city center. It also features an industrial park with significant business activity.

The modern MUNICIPALITY OF KIFISSIA comprises three municipal units: Kifissia, Nea Erythraia, and Ekali. Together they form a unified local government entity with coordinated urban planning, while each area retains its distinct character, architectural style, and social profile.
