The MUNICIPALITY OF KANTANOS-SELINO is located in the southwestern part of Chania Prefecture in Crete. It was established in 2011 through the merger of the former municipalities of Kantanos, Pelekanos, and East Selino, with Paleochora as its capital and Kantanos as its historical capital.

The region is renowned for its rich history, Byzantine churches, traditional villages, and natural beauty. The residents are mainly engaged in agriculture, livestock farming, and tourism. The municipality combines both mountains and sea, offering a wealth of history and unique culture, making it an ideal destination for holidays, relaxation, and exploration.

Additionally, the municipality is particularly sensitive to environmental protection and the use of environmental technologies. In 2024 was awarded at the GREEK GREEN AWARDS in the category of “ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION / SUSTAINABILITY”.
