50 years of industrial excellence
GEKAS METAL GROUP SA was founded in 1975 with the mission of manufacturing heating systems for the Greek and European markets.
From its early years, the company pursued continuous growth and product diversification, fully utilizing its production capabilities. In the early 1980s, the brands Bonne Metal Grills, Gekas Stoves, and GMG Waste Bins were established, laying the foundations for a dynamic, diversified, and outwardlooking industrial journey.
In 2012 the company’s management passed to the second generation of the Gekas family. Brothers Dimitris Gekas (Chief Executive Officer & Vice Chairman) and Michalis Gekas (Chairman of the Board & Head of Production) preserved the company’s family-owned character while redefining its strategic direction. The new strategy focused on the development of advanced metal waste management systems.
The year 2025 marks 50 years of continuous industrial presence for GEKAS METAL GROUP. The company is firmly targeting a leading position in the production of metal waste containers in accordance with the EN 840 standard. With an hourly production capacity of 9.25 units per single shift, it ranks among the world’s largest manufacturers.
In the same year, the first phase of the company’s robotic transformation is completed, with the installation of three state-of-the-art systems:
- BYSTRONIC laser cutting system (Switzerland), featuring automatic loading, unloading, and sorting.
- CLOOS robotic welding system (Germany).
- FANUC robotic handling system (Japan).
The second phase, scheduled for completion by 2030, includes the addition of four more welding and handling robots, further enhancing precision, efficiency, and consistently high production quality.
