CIVINET Greece-Cyprus is the official national network of the CIVITAS Initiative, which is the European network of cities for sustainable mobility, established in 2002 by the European Commission (DG MOVE). CIVINET is also the national multiplier of the EU Urban Mobility Observatory, and a member of UITP, ECF, ALICE, and the MaaS Alliance.

The network focuses on:
• Raising awareness among stakeholders, citizens, and politicians.
• Empowering the human resources of local authorities and the private sector.

• Supporting local authorities in financing projects and policies.
• Supporting governments in the optimal adaptation of the institutional framework.
• Promoting the achievements and unique characteristics of Greek- speaking local authorities at the national and European level.
To date, CIVINET GREECE-CYPRUS has participated in 13 European and 17 national projects (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans – SUMPs, Urban Accessibility Plans, Local Urban Plans – LUPs). Current projects include: CIVITAS MUSE (Horizon Europe), SPINE (Horizon Europe, Mission & CIVITAS Project), SMARTMOBAIR (Interreg IPA Adrion), ECOZANI (European Urban Initiative), and 6 Local Urban Plans (LUPs) in the cities of Chalkida, Argos- Mykines, Fyli, Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero, Agios Dimitrios, and Nea Smyrni. Some of its most innovative initiatives are:
• The Sustainable Island Mobility Plan guide, in collaboration with the University of the Aegean.
• The Outta Climate Festivals, featuring Asphalt Art activities in 4 cities: Vari- Voula-Vouliagmeni, Agios Dimitrios, Heraklion Attica, and Heraklion Crete.

• The pilot projects “Micromobility Hubs”, in collaboration with EIT Urban Mobility and Rastel.io, in Heraklion Crete, Heraklion Attica, and OTEAcademy.

• The Circular Economy Strategy for the tourism sector in the islands of the Attica Region, developed under the INCIRCLE project (Interreg MED).
In its first six years of operation, the network has successfully raised over €7.75 million in funding for its members.
