ANAKEM is one of the first approved Collective Systems for the Alternative Management (CSAM) of Excavation, Construction and Demolition Wastes (ECDW) in Greece, founded in November 2012. In 2025, its network included more than 230 cooperating Recycling Facilities across 69 Regional Units and all 13 Regions of the country, covering 93% of the Greek territory.
ANAKEM aims at the contribution to the achievement of the national target concerning the management of ECDW, the compliance with the legislation and the environmental protection.
During the period 2013–2025, ANAKEM managed over 26 million tons of ECDW. Through their processing, more than 10 million tons of secondary products were produced up to 2024, which were utilized in public and private infrastructure projects as well as for backfilling and earthworks, contributing substantially to the circular economy and to the reduction of environmental impact.
Since 2021, ANAKEM has been undertaking the environmental restoration of inactive quarries, either independently as an ECDW Collective System or in partnership with other approved systems, providing integrated solutions based on the utilization of recycled materials.
At the same time, ANAKEM supports public authorities and private entities in the sustainable management of ECDW, develops awarenessraising initiatives, and actively participates in research programs related to the production and utilization of recycled construction materials and to sustainable construction practices, within the framework of the Central Macedonia Regional Operational Program and the HORIZON program.
ANAKEM has been certified and implements Quality Management Systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and Environmental Management Systems in accordance with ISO 14001, ensuring high standards of operation and environmental responsibility. Furthermore, ANAKEM implements an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility program and carries out pilot and demonstration projects for the cleanup of historical ECDW deposits in protected and heavily burdened areas, actively contributing to environmental protection and to the improvement of quality of life.
