The Company is responsible for waste management in eastern Crete. Some of the actions of the Company are described below:
• It was the first in Greece to install a solar sludge drying plant.
• Installed 4 green points.
• Installed Waste Management Mechanical equipment.
• Designed and matured 2 Waste Transfer Stations.
• Implemented on a real scale the pilot program ̈pay as you throw ̈, from 2013 and for the next 3 years.
• Established the program “VRAHOKIPOS NO BINS” with the application of modern technologies, which concerns the smart collection of waste by informing the collection time via SMS.
• Established the recycling championship in the schools of the Municipality of Chersonissos.
• Studied the model center for reuse of materials in Chersonissos, the first center in the Mediterranean of corresponding specifications, with the character of a circular economy.
• Prepared the first Natural and Technological Risk management plan in Greece, in the wider area of the Company ‘s facilities.
• Studied and matured the largest waste treatment plant in Crete, giving a solution and a way out to the PESDA of Crete, in a mainly tourist destination of Crete, the Municipality of Chersonissos.
All of the above, along with the successful information actions for prevention and recycling, the pilot programs, as well as the promotion of rational organization and integrated waste management, have as main goal the sustainable development, for a society with ZERO WASTE.
