HELLENIC RECOVERY RECYCLING CORPORATION (HERRCO), as Greek <\/i>law foresees, runs the System of the Blue Bins and the Blue Bells since <\/i>2003 as the Recycling System licensed by the Hellenic Recycling Agency <\/i>(HRA). It was founded by industrial and commercial enterprises in the <\/i>Greek market, which either place packaged products in the Greek market, <\/i>or manufacture packaging materials.<\/i><\/p>\n

The contribution of the System of HERRC\u039f is of decisive importance, <\/i>which is constantly demonstrated by the results recorded for the Blue <\/i>Bins and Blue Bells. More specifically, in 2024, thanks to the systematic <\/i>support and cooperation of an extensive network \u2014including over 3,950 <\/i>Affiliated Companies, the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece and <\/i>94% of the country\u2019s \u039cunicipalities, 35 Recycling Sorting Centers, as well <\/i>as the valuable participation and support of citizens\u2014 HERRCO managed <\/i>not only to meet but to exceed its legal obligation by 152%, recycling 505 <\/i>thousand tons of packaging materials, compared to a mandatory target of <\/i>330 thousand tons.<\/i><\/p>\n

Since 2003, HERRCO has recycled more than 9 million tons and has provided <\/i>more than 426 million euros for investments and operating expenses in <\/i>order for the System to cover effectively the needs of the population. The <\/i>Blue Bins placed in the neighborhoods of the country have exceeded the <\/i>number of 180.000 and the collection vehicles that have been delivered to <\/i>the Municipalities are 544. In 2023, the cooperating Municipalities carried <\/i>out 130.000 collection routes for recyclable materials which ended up at <\/i>the 35 Recycling Sorting Centers (RSC) all over the country.<\/i><\/p>\n
