The UNIT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (UEST) constitutes an educational and research unit of the SCHOOL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF NTUA, with more than 40 years of experience in the preparation and implementation of European and national programs pertinent to environmental management (e.g. addressing climate change, the treatment and management of industrial, municipal liquid, solid, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, circular economy and bioeconomy), and thus, developing management plans, promoting innovative and original technologies and techniques.
UEST forms partnerships with universities, research institutions, public as well as local authorities and the private sector, aiming to improve education, research, technology and innovation. To this day, UEST has successfully implemented more than 150 environmental projects financed from national and European funds (LIFE, Interreg, EuropeAid, H2020, MEDAWARE, NSRF 2007-2013 e.t.c.), and therefore, has carried out a number of projects concerning the integrated management of municipal solid waste, special streams stemming from such as waste, as well as hazardous waste, at regional and national level.
In addition, the UEST laboratory consists of the latest generation technological equipment (ICP-MS, FAAS, GC-MS, TOC, ΤΝ, MW etc.) covering a wide range of analytical techniques. It operates in accordance with EN ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards and is accredited by the National Accreditation System (ESYD).
